Q: Activity! Who do you want to be? If you could choose any character from a book. What do you think that character looks like and what do you have in common?

A: There are so many! I am going to have to go for the one that seems to have been with me for years and develops fantastically through the series  That would be Hermione Granger!

Hermione is a great character who we see to grow into a wonderful woman. She gets to battle evil but still manages to get good grades. She gets the happy ending - well eventually! Oh and she get to use magic and a wand! Need I say more??? Who wouldn't want to join the wizarding world :-)

This weeks question

Q: Books are turned into movies all the time! Turn it around. What movie would make a great book?

A: Hum, I really don't know. I have to admit I'm not really a huge fan of books being turned into movies. So often it is nothing like I imagined!!!!! Some books however have been made into movies with great effect. The Harry Potter books have all bee made into movies which worked really well. Am I picky then? Well maybe it's because I'm not a huge movie watcher?

If I have to pick one? Well it would be really intriguing to see how they made the Anita Blake books into films, especially as they got to around book 10!

Eternally Books Update

I am really excited about all the changes happening at Eternally Books at the moment! So what's going on? 

Firstly I'm getting the new look and feel of the blog sorted. The overall blog looks a bit different, but I'm not done yet! I heading towards a nice clean look with a huge hint of paranormal and plenty of purple! I've also got a new feature or two coming soon so stay tuned (go on follow me!!).

Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?

A: Okay I'm in two minds about this question. On the one hand it's been said that there are only truly about 6 (or is it 8??) plots in the world, so we are bound to see things coming up again! Therefore in it inevitable that the same stuff will come around.

On the other hand I don't like it when a novel is a clear copy of another! There is a big difference between this and generalised. There is no reason for anyone to outright copy another book. It's coming up with the original take on something that makes the difference!

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can't deal with bad editing?

A: The deal breaker for me is when a book tries to stuff too much into the storyline just for the sake of being there! Don't get me wring I love complex fully featured stories with multiple plot lines and a multitude of characters. What I dislike is when a secondary plot has been added but seems pointless, or an extra supernatural creature added because it's really popular right now! 

If it fits with the story and it's well written have more than one plot, have all the character types you like - but please make it read well!!

Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.

A: I'm usually pretty tolerant of writing devices used, with one qualifier, they must be used well!!!! There is nothing worse than reading something here an author has tried too hard to use any device, be it omnipotent narrator or instant mated for life partners. Used well, all writing devices help the story move along!  The instant mated for life writing trick is used wonderfully in some books I've read!

Okay so that's not really a definitive answer but basically it depends!

Eternally Books Update

There are going to be a few changes around Eternally Books in the next couple of weeks with a new design, new features and some really exciting news (I'd love to tell you now but there are a few details to finalise first!).

Q: What would you do over if you were to start your blog again from scratch?

A: Well I actually have, kind of! There were 10 months where I didn't post at all due to family issues and when I decided to restart my blog I wanted to change up quite a lot of things! I changed my blog title, I'd grown to dislike y old title (Magic Faeries paranormal Review) what a mouth full and I, well just fell out of love with it! I chose a new title which much better suited what I wanted and was snappier too! Eternally Books was born!!!! I haven't fully finished my restart yet - my blog design is lurching from one thing to another at the moment as I'm playing around with it!!

What am I doing differently this time around? I'm trying to me more organised and network more. Not take on too much and to make it good!

Q: Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don’t like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.

A: I have. I don't usually read books that fall into the "Chick-Lit" or main stream contemporary romance but recently I read Fen by Freya North. Not my usual but I really enjoyed it, a light and easy read, just what I'd needed at the time! I think it's good to shake things up a little form time to time :-)

Q: Birthday Wishes -- Blow out the candles and imagine what character could pop out of your cake...who is it and what book are they from?

A: I'm not sure where to start, I had so many ideas on this one :-) I think I'll go with Jean-Claude from the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter books because he always seems an intreaging character and it would be interesting to meet him. Now if I was going to go for "wow look at him" I would have a nice long list think Bones, Rhange or Barrons etc!

Q: If you could "unread" a book, which one would it be? Is it because you want to start over and experience it again for the first time? Or because it was THAT bad?

A: That's actually a really hard question! There are very few books which I've ever found THAT bad and so many I'd love to read again for the first time. It would be great to read the whole Harry Potter series from the beginning and see how it develops again. I'd also like to be able to do the same with the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Q: Happy Father's Day! Who is your favorite dad character in a book and why?

A: My absolute favourite has to be Mr Weasley from the Harry Potter books. I mean can you imagine if your Dad was like that!!! I loved how he knew his own path and that of his family, he knew when it was right for them to "go into battle" but his best feature is his complete love for his family which never  ceased, no matter what happened :-)

Q: What is one thing you wish you could tell your favorite author?

I'm not sure I can pick just one favourite author now! I'm going to go with my favourite from my childhood! I loved Enid Blyton as a child, The Famous Five, The Far Away Tree and so much more. I'd like to say to her "thank you for writing such fantastic children's book which have helped to give me a love of reading for life!!!" I started to read the Famous Five books when I was just 5 and the 21 in the series kept e going rather a long time at that age!!

Q: Fight! Fight! If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferably from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?

Excellent question!! Now I could spend hours thinking about this but I'm going with the first two characters who come to mind! Bones against Wrath (BDB). Who would win? No idea really, can I get back to you on that one!!!!
