TGIF (Book Olympics) & Book Blogger Hop (5)

Friday is the day of following, friendship and questions in the book blog world. This week I am taking part in two further blog hops! TGIF is run by Ginger at GReads and the Book Blogger Hop is run by Jen at Crazy for Books. Look forward to getting to meet & know you my fellow book bloggers :-)

Q - When a book goes “viral” (Hunger Games, Fifty Shades, Twilight), do you rush out to read it like everyone else, even if it’s not in your typical genre?

A - I can't deny that I get very curious! I mean who would not! I definitely
look at the book and wonder if I should read it. Having said that I rarely end up actually reading it! If I do it's because I want to read it anyway.

Q - Book Olympics: In the spirit of the Olympics, which books would you give the gold, silver, and bronze medals to? It can be from any genre, new or old.
A - WOW, now there's a question! That is so hard to choose, how do I choose? I'm going to go with my recently read books! If I went for all time this post would be very long and would take me a long time to write and you to read :)

TGIF (Comfort Reads) & Book Blogger Hop (4)

Friday is the day of following, friendship and questions in the book blog world. This week I am taking part in two further blog hops! TGIF is run by Ginger at GReads and the Book Blogger Hop is run by Jen at Crazy for Books. Look forward to getting to meet & know you my fellow book bloggers :-)

Q -Comfort Reads: Which books do you go to for comfort & familiarity?  Is there a type of book you seek out when you're needing that extra bit of comfort in your life?

A -  For me it's the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. I love this series and can read the books over and over again. You can never have enough of Stephanie, Joe and Ranger. The big question of course is always whether Stephanie is going to choose Cupcake or Babe! If you haven't already read these I'd highly recommend getting started on the first book One For The Money, there are now 18 books in the series, wonderful :-) Yes, I've realised my comfort book is outside the genres I usually review for Eternally Books, but I have eclectic tastes!!

Q - If you could be a character from any book, who would you be?

A - I've had a hard time getting this answer down to just one character! I'm going to go with Alexia Tarabotti from the Parasol Protectorate series.  I just love how the series is set in an alternative Victorian England. She is an excellent character and believable. Pushes the boundaries of her society to almost intolerably improper proportions! If you have read this series yet take a look at the first book Soulless.

TGIF (A Book Blogger is Born) & Book Blogger Hop #3

Friday is the day of following, friendship and questions in the book blog world. This week I am taking part in two further blog hops! TGIF is run by Ginger at GReads and the Book Blogger Hop is run by Jen at Crazy for Books. Look forward to getting to meet & know you my fellow book bloggers :-)

Q - A Book Blogger is Born: What made you decide to start your very own book blog?

A -  I started book blogging on the 18th July 2010. I have loved to read since I was 5 years old and had been writing reviews of the books I'd read on Amazon then Goodreads for several months which had lead me to start reading blogs. I loved the community and seeing what everyone else was reading and thought so I decided to start my very own blog. At that time I already had a personal blog I'd been keeping since 2007 (I no longer have that blog, it has gone into retirement!)

I blogged for about 10 months then unfortunately life got in the way and I hardly posted for about 8 months, this lead to my blog (then known as Magic Faeries Paranormal Review) stalling but not quite dying. Then about 3 months ago I resurrected my blog and feel like I have come home :-) I have also renamed my blog to something I feel fits both me and the books I blog about better - so Eternally Books came about and is wonderful!

I love blogging!!! In addition to Eternally Books I am developing two blogs/websites which will be launching in the next couple of weeks!. My new business website
(Blossom Your business) which focuses on blogging, design, marketing and social media for small businesses owners and work from home professionals. And I am also putting together a book tours site (Eternal Book Tours) and a site specialising in blog design for book bloggers.

Q - How many books do you own? This can include books in your to-be-read (TBR) pile(s) and books you have already read that are on your keeper shelf.

A - Oh wow it's a lot, maybe too many!!!  I think I have around 500 novels on my various bookshelves (I have sold or given away as many in my life at least!). I also have a growing collection of ebooks, I think I have about 150 now. Okay that's just the fiction!

I love books and have around another 400 non-fiction titles. They are on design, writing, health, history, philosophy, genealogy, blogging, wordpress, yoga, self development, coding, business, learning Spanish/French/German and much more. Did I mention I love reading non-fiction almost as much as fiction?

TGIF (Supporting Characters) & Book Blogger Hop #2

Friday is the day of following, friendship and questions in the book blog world. This week I am taking part in two further blog hops! TGIF is run by Ginger at GReads and the Book Blogger Hop is run by Jen at Crazy for Books. Look forward to getting to meet & know you my fellow book bloggers :-)

Q - Supporting Characters: We tend to gush over those main characters the most, but what about those supporting roles? Who are some of your favorites?

A - Supporting characters? Oh, wow where do i start? One which really stands out in my memory is Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series! I love how quirky she is, always somewhere around but never really part of the action for a long time, oh but how she becomes so much more towards the end of the series!

Q - Who is your favorite book character? I’ll give you a maximum of two choices, but they have to be from different genres!
A - Mine? It is really difficult to choose just one or two!  What is it with the questions this Friday, LOL!!  I like quirky characters so I loved Alexia Tarabotti fro the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger! She is a fantastic character to read about and is wonderfully unique!

TGIF (Literary Vacations) & Book Blogger Hop #1

Friday is the day of following, friendship and questions in the book blog world. This week I am taking part in two further blog hops! TGIF is run by Ginger at GReads and the Book Blogger Hop is run by Jen at Crazy for Books. Look forward to getting to meet & know you my fellow book bloggers :-)

Q - Literary Vacations: If you could take a trip this summer to any place within a fictional book, where would you go? Tell us about your summer dream vacation!

A - Where would I go? I think I'd choose to visit  Caldwell and go to meet the Black Dagger Brotherhood and their Shellens.  I kind of feel like I already know the place from rereading the books a tie or two :-)

Q - Are you attending the Book Blogger Convention (aka Bea Bloggers) and/or Book Expo America in New York City in June? If not, will you participate in the online event called Armchair BEA?

A - Me? No I'm not going to be attending the Book Blogger Convntion, but it's kind of difficult for me as I'm in the UK! I hadn't heard of Armchair BEA but I will go and check it out now :-)

Follow Friday #17 & Book Blogger Hop #16

HAPPY FRIDAY!!  I'm joining in Follow Friday and Book Blogger Hop again this week.  Take a look around!

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee, head on over there to join in the fun, meet new blogger friends.  Featuring today Angie @ Another Book Junkie.

Do you have an under-noticed author that you think we should all know about?

I've been thinking about this and can not think of just one!  I've discovered great books from Indie authors, so I guess I'm noting a whole section of authors!  (Yeah, I know it was meant to be an author!)

Book Blogger Hop

I'm also taking part in the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy For Books so head on over to join in the fun!  This weeks question is from Angela @ Library Girl Reads

"What is the thing you like most about reading book blogs?  Is it the reviews, author guest posts, articles, giveaways, or something else entirely?"
All of those things!  I love reading what people think of books and it's great to get some interviews and giveaways etc in there too.  I suppose for me it's the whole book blog experience I like, I love also how every blog is just a bit different!

Follow Friday #15 & Book Blogger Hop #14

HAPPY FRIDAY!!  I'm joining in Follow Friday and Book Blogger Hop again this week.  Take a look around!   (I haven't posted much this week as I've been ill so not managed to read much either.)

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee, head on over there to join in the fun, meet new blogger friends  and meet her featured blogger of the week GReads.

How long have you been book blogging??

I've been book blogging for three months now but I still feel like a newbie, I just wish I had more time to devote to my blog and reading too!

Book Blogger Hop

I'm also taking part in the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy For Books so head on over to join in the fun!  This weeks question is:

"Since Thanksgiving is coming up next week, let's use this week's Hop to share what we are most thankful for and what our holiday traditions are!"

I'm thankful for my family and friends most of all, without them I would be half the person I am!  I don't have any Thanksgiving holiday traditions because I'm British and we don't have it!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!  I'm joining in Follow Friday and Book Blogger Hop again this week.  I've got a round up of what's been happening on my blog this week to give you an idea of what I get up to, take a look around!

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee, head on over there to join in the fun, meet new blogger friends  and meet her featured blogger of the week Insane Hussein.

What is your usual monthly book budget?

My book budget varies a lot from one month to the next!  I think on average it's about £30 (the conversion website tells me that is $48.65!) but I'll spend £80 in one go then only £5 the next month!  I'm just getting into buying e-books which could be dangerous!

Book Blogger Hop

I'm also taking part in the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy For Books so head on over to join in the fun!  This weeks question comes from Christina at All About YA Books

"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"

I have to read a series in order!  I'm really a bit OCD about it, if I find a great sounding book the first thing I do is check out if it's part of a series and if it is start planning how to get hold of the whole series!

Who are your favorite authors??

I've got so many authors I like!  It's hard to pick just a few but here goes.  In no particular order the ones which come to mind are Jeaniene Frost, J.R. Ward, Charlaine Harris, Richelle Mead, Kelly Armstrong and H.P. Mallory.

Book Blogger Hop

I'm also taking part in the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy For Books so head on over to join in the fun!  This weeks question comes from Vicki at The Wolf's Den

"What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?"

That's a difficult one.  I think it's always sad to loose followers because it makes you wonder what you could have done to hold their interest.  However, sometimes people are just not interested any more, no longer have the time or simply no longer read the genre you review if your blog is genre specific like mine.

I've never actually stopped following a blog yet because I only tend to follow ones which interest me, it just happens that a lot interest me!  If that changes then I would stop following a blog so I could concentrate my time and interest.  I may stop following a blog if the posts were repeatedly offensive though.

With that question in mind Jen has set us all a challenge:
BLOG HOP CHALLENGE:  With this in mind, I have a challenge for you.  This challenge will take some dedication on your part this week.  I want you to find ONE blog in the Hop list that you genuinely WANT to follow (try to find a new blog, if you can!) and make at least 5 comments on their blog this week on 5 different posts.  Get to know this blogger and what they post about.  Next week, as part of your Hop post, I want you to post about your experience with this challenge.  Just tell us what you thought of the challenge, who you found to follow and link to the posts that you commented on  I hope you will participate and help us all to build our community!  Let's dig a little deeper and get to know each other!  Remember, the point is to be genuine!  Not to follow for the sake of following!  Because, if you are genuine, you are much more likely to get people to follow you back.  Trust me on this.

Note:  If you can't find a new blog to follow, then go ahead and use one of your already followed blogs that is in the Hop list.

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee, head on over there to join in the fun, meet new blogger friends  and meet her featured blogger of the week My 5 Monkeys.

If you have, or would have a daughter, what book would you want your daughter to read?

I don't have a daughter but if I did I'd encourage her to read the Famous Five books by Enid Blyton.  I have very fond memories of reading these, the first books I read on my own when I was 5 and 6.   I love that they are traditional but can still be read today!

"When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or move on to your next title?"
Once I start a book I really like to finish it before I move onto something else.  But I'm a bit of a mood reader so sometimes a book just does not suit me at the time so I'll put it aside for a couple of days then finish it.  I almost always finish a book I start, I think I've only permanently abandoned about two ever!!
